Research Ethics and Ethical Clearance Policy

Research involving human participants submitted to JIMPI: Jurnal Inovatif Manajemen Pendidikan Islam must comply with applicable research ethics standards and the ethical oversight principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Where required, ethical clearance must be obtained from an authorized Research Ethics Committee or Institutional Review Board before the research is conducted.

Ethical Requirements

Research involving human participants, including interviews, surveys, observations, and educational interventions, must ensure:

  1. Ethical approval where required by applicable institutional or national regulations.

  2. Respect for participants' rights, dignity, safety, and well-being.

  3. Voluntary and informed consent without coercion or undue influence.

  4. The right to refuse or withdraw from participation without inappropriate consequences.

  5. Protection of privacy, anonymity where applicable, and confidentiality of personal and institutional information.

  6. Appropriate safeguards for children, students, vulnerable individuals, and participants in potentially sensitive educational settings.

  7. Responsible collection, storage, analysis, and reporting of research data.

Exceptions to Formal Ethical Clearance

Formal ethical clearance may not be required for research involving low or negligible risk, subject to applicable institutional and national requirements. Such research may include literature reviews, theoretical studies, analyses of publicly available documents, and research using fully anonymized secondary data.

Anonymous surveys or other low-risk educational research may also qualify for exemption where permitted by the relevant ethics regulations. Low-risk classification does not automatically exempt research from formal ethical review.

Where formal ethical clearance is not required, authors must provide a clear statement explaining the basis for the exemption. Where ethical approval has been obtained, authors must state the name of the approving ethics committee and the ethical clearance number, where applicable, in the manuscript.

Editorial Responsibility

The journal reserves the right to request ethical approval documents, informed consent information, or other supporting evidence when necessary.

Research conducted without required ethical approval or involving serious violations of participants' rights may be rejected or investigated in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement and Allegations of Research Misconduct Policy.
