Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

This policy is based on and refers to the guidelines outlined in the Generative AI Policies for Journals provided by Elsevier, which can be accessed at the following link: https://www.elsevier.com/about/policies-and-standards/generative-ai-policies-for-journals.

To ensure transparency, integrity, and accountability in scholarly publishing, JIMPI: Jurnal Inovatif Manajemen Pendidikan Islam implements the following policies regarding the use of generative AI tools by authors, reviewers, and editors.

Responsible Use of Generative AI by Authors

Authors may use generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT and other AI language models) for supporting tasks, such as improving grammar, language, clarity, and readability of their manuscripts. However:

  • Disclosure Requirement: Substantive use of generative AI must be explicitly disclosed in the manuscript, including the tool used, its purpose, and how it contributed to the work. AI use in research methods must be described in the Methods section. Basic spelling and grammar checks do not require disclosure.

  • No Authorship Credit: Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the integrity and originality of scholarly work.

  • Prohibited Uses: Generative AI must not be used to fabricate or falsify research data, generate fictitious references, manipulate findings, or replace the authors' independent scientific judgment. AI-assisted research methods, including data analysis, must be transparent, verifiable, and appropriately documented.

Use of AI Tools by Reviewers and Editors

  • Confidentiality: Reviewers and editors must not upload unpublished manuscripts or confidential editorial information to public AI platforms. Any permitted AI assistance must protect authors' confidentiality, intellectual property, and data privacy.

  • Human Oversight: AI tools may assist with limited administrative, language-editing, or technical tasks, provided confidentiality is maintained. Editorial decisions and peer-review judgments must remain the responsibility of human editors and reviewers.

Limitations and Risks

  • Accuracy of AI Outputs: AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies, biases, or fabricated information. Authors must carefully verify all AI-assisted outputs, including references and citations.

  • Plagiarism and Ethical Compliance: AI use must comply with the journal's plagiarism policy, research ethics, copyright requirements, and academic integrity standards.

Review and Enforcement

  • The editorial team reserves the right to request information regarding the use of generative AI during manuscript preparation.

  • Manuscripts involving undisclosed, misleading, or inappropriate AI use may be subject to editorial investigation, rejection, correction, or retraction, depending on the nature and severity of the violation.

By implementing this policy, JIMPI: Jurnal Inovatif Manajemen Pendidikan Islam seeks to maintain the integrity, transparency, and quality of scholarly publishing while supporting the responsible use of emerging AI technologies.
