Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Madanika: Jurnal Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat

Madanika: Jurnal Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat is a peer-reviewed national journal, available in print and online, and published twice a year. This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process of this journal, including authors, the chief editor, the editorial board, peer reviewers, and the publisher. This statement is based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Publishing Ethics Guidelines

Publishing articles in Madanika represents an essential component in building a coherent and respected body of knowledge in the field of community service and empowerment. It reflects the quality of the authors’ work and the institutions behind them. The peer-reviewed articles support the scientific method and ethical research practices. Therefore, all stakeholders must uphold high ethical standards.

The Department of Islamic Communication and Broadcasting, Faculty of Da'wah, Universitas Islam Internasional Darullughah Wadda’wah, as the publisher of Madanika, is responsible for all stages of publication and ensures that advertising, sponsorship, or commercial interest does not influence editorial decisions. The publisher also supports communication with other journals and publishers when necessary.

Publishing Decision

The editors of Madanika are responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts should be published. The decision is based on the importance, originality, and clarity of the work, and its relevance to the journal’s scope. Editors may consult with the editorial board or reviewers in making the final decision and are guided by ethical and legal requirements, such as defamation, copyright, and plagiarism laws.

Fair Treatment

Manuscripts are evaluated solely based on their academic merit—without regard to the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.

Privacy

All information related to submitted manuscripts is treated confidentially and only shared with those directly involved in the publication process: authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Editors and reviewers must not use unpublished information from submitted manuscripts in their own research without the author’s explicit written consent.

Contribution to Editorial Decision

The peer review process assists editors in making publication decisions and helps authors improve their manuscripts through constructive feedback.

Timeliness

Reviewers who feel unqualified or unable to review a manuscript within the given timeline must notify the editor and excuse themselves from the review process.

Confidentiality

All manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents and should not be disclosed or discussed with others without editor authorization.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews must be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Feedback should be expressed clearly and supported by arguments.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should ensure that relevant previously published work is properly cited. They must notify the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and other published material.

Conflicts of Interest

Reviewers should not review manuscripts where they have conflicts of interest due to personal, academic, institutional, or financial relationships.

Authors must disclose any potential conflict of interest and acknowledge all sources of financial support for the research.

Reporting Standards

Authors must present an accurate and objective account of their research, including sufficient detail and references. Fabrication or falsification of data is unethical and unacceptable.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure their work is original. If they use others' work or words, they must cite and reference appropriately. All manuscripts will be checked for plagiarism using Turnitin.

Redundant or Concurrent Publication

Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously or publish the same research in multiple venues.

Authorship

Authorship should reflect those who made substantial contributions to the research. All co-authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission.

Corrections and Retractions

If significant errors are found in published work, authors must cooperate with editors to issue corrections or retractions as appropriate.

This Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement is established to uphold the integrity and scholarly reputation of Madanika: Jurnal Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat, ensuring every published work contributes meaningfully to the field of community service and empowerment.
