Peer Review Process
PEER REVIEW PROCESS
All manuscripts submitted to Wasilatuna: Jurnal Komunikasi dan Penyiaran Islam undergo a rigorous peer review process to ensure academic quality, originality, and scholarly relevance. The journal applies a double-blind peer review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the review process.
1. Initial Editorial Screening
Upon submission, manuscripts are first evaluated by the editorial team to assess their relevance to the journal’s scope, compliance with author guidelines, and administrative completeness.
At this stage, all manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using Turnitin. Manuscripts exceeding the journal’s acceptable similarity threshold may be rejected or returned to the authors for clarification or revision.
2. Assignment of Reviewers
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with relevant academic expertise. Reviewers are selected from institutions different from those of the authors to ensure objectivity.
All author-identifying information must be removed from the main manuscript file and provided separately on the title page to maintain the double-blind review principle.
3. Review Process
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on scientific quality, originality, methodological rigor, theoretical contribution, clarity of presentation, and relevance to the field of Islamic communication and broadcasting. Reviewers are expected to provide constructive, scholarly feedback.
The standard review period is approximately four weeks, with possible extensions upon notification to the editorial office.
4. Editorial Decision
Based on reviewers’ recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with the editorial board, makes the final decision: acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection.
If reviewers’ assessments differ substantially, an additional reviewer may be invited. All reviewer comments are anonymized and communicated to authors through the online system.
The average time from submission to the first decision is approximately one month.
5. Revision Process
Authors requested to revise their manuscripts must submit a revised version along with a detailed response to reviewers’ comments.
Manuscripts requiring major revisions may be re-evaluated by the same reviewers, while minor revisions may be assessed directly by the editors.
6. Final Acceptance and Publication
Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, layout editing, and final proofreading prior to publication. The editorial team reserves the right to make minor editorial adjustments without altering the scholarly substance.
