This study examined the effectiveness of an Interactive Web-Based Speech Recognition and Text-to-Speech (TTS) system in improving Arabic listening comprehension and reducing cognitive load among foreign language learners in Malaysia. A quantitative quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design was applied involving 56 secondary school students, with 28 students in the experimental group and 28 students in the control group. Data were collected through listening comprehension tests and cognitive load questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, Cohen’s d, and Pearson correlation. The results showed that the experimental group improved from a mean score of 60.82 to 80.21, with a gain of 19.39 points, higher than the control group’s gain of 13.39 points. The difference was significant (p < 0.001) with a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.28). Listening comprehension was negatively correlated with cognitive load (r = -0.74, p < 0.001). These findings confirm that integrating Speech Recognition and TTS supports more effective Arabic listening learning and cognitive processing.
