Transparent, accountable, and effective financial management is an important aspect of educational administration, hence an understanding of public sector accounting must be mastered by students of Islamic Educational Management (MPI). However, learning accounting in the education sector is not sufficient through theoretical understanding alone; it also needs to be supported by practical experience so that students can comprehend its application in the financial management of educational institutions. This research aims to analyse the effectiveness of learning Accounting in the Education Sector within the Islamic Educational Management (MPI) study programme and its relevance to the competency needs for financial management in the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Blitar City. This study employs a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research informants consist of the Head of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Office in Blitar City, the treasurer, and MPI students. The results show that the effectiveness of learning is supported by the relevance of the curriculum, teaching methods, quality of lecturers, supporting facilities, and evaluation of learning. The competencies required include an understanding of Government Accounting Standards (SAP), financial statement analysis, data management, the use of information technology, and an understanding of educational financing regulations. Additionally, skills such as educational cost analysis, communication, and problem-solving still need to be strengthened. This research also identifies various challenges such as limited practical experience, regulatory complexities, and gaps between theory and practice. Therefore, there is a need to strengthen the curriculum, enhance field experience, and develop both technical and non-technical skills. Learning Accounting in the Education Sector has been proven to play a role in improving the readiness of MPI students to support effective, efficient, transparent, and accountable financial management within the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Blitar City.
