https://ejournal.uiidalwa.ac.id/index.php/almunawwarah/article/view/2509

Freedom in the context of Islamic education is understood as the freedom to choose a way of life that aligns with religious teachings, while in Western philosophy, it is more focused on autonomy and critical thinking within a pluralistic society. This article explores the relationship between freedom and responsibility in education by comparing Islamic and Western perspectives through a qualitative literature review of both classical and contemporary works. The findings indicate that, despite differences in approach, both traditions agree that freedom must always be accompanied by responsibility to develop individuals who are not only intellectually capable but also contribute positively to society. An ideal education system should integrate these two values to shape well-rounded individuals—intellectually, morally, and socially—ensuring that education remains holistic and relevant in the era of globalization. This study provides deeper insights into how education can cultivate individuals who are not only intelligent but also responsible, both personally and socially, thereby contributing to the formulation of more relevant and applicable educational objectives in today’s interconnected world.
Ahmad MahfuziMuhamad Solehudin

https://ejournal.uiidalwa.ac.id/index.php/almunawwarah/article/view/2512

The rapid changes in the era and the development of the modern world often result in an imbalance in prioritizing the types of fardu kifayah and fardu ‘ain knowledge. Many educational institutions prioritize the science of Fardu kifayah, often neglecting the Fardu ‘ain aspect. This study aims to explore Imam Al-Ghazali's thoughts on the importance of balance between the science of Fardu ‘ain and Fardu kifayah in the context of Islamic education. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study, which examines the works of Imam Al-Ghazali, especially those related to education and science. The results of the study show that Imam Al-Ghazali's thoughts on the balance of Fardu ‘ain and Fardu kifayah knowledge are very relevant to the challenges of today's Islamic education. In a modern context, Islamic education needs to integrate these two types of knowledge in order to produce a generation that is not only intellectually intelligent but also has a noble character and is responsible for building society. This study suggests that the current Islamic education curriculum integrates religious and worldly knowledge, strengthens character education, and utilizes technology as a means to achieve a balance of knowledge. Thus, Islamic education can form a generation that excels in the fields of science and morals and plays an active role in the development of the community and civilization.
Muhammad HusniKholili Hasib

https://ejournal.uiidalwa.ac.id/index.php/almunawwarah/article/view/2521

ABSTRACT

Early age is a golden age for child development, where moral education is very important to be formed from the beginning. At this stage, children have a natural tendency to recognize and understand moral values, which greatly influence their character and behavior in the future. However, the challenges in moral education in the family and community environment are still problems that need to be overcome, considering the many cases of deviant behavior among children and adolescents today. This study aims to examine the concept of Islamic education in early childhood as an effort to instill morals. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with a literature study, which collects and analyzes literature related to this theme. The results of the study show that moral education can be carried out through several methods, including verbal communication, habituation, and storytelling, which are effective in instilling moral values in early childhood. The instillation of morals carried out from an early age has been proven to form positive character in children, develop discipline, and strengthen children’s spiritual relationship with God. Cooperation between parents and educators is very important to create an environment conducive to the formation of good morals. The contribution of this research is to provide insight for parents and educators in implementing effective moral instillation methods in the family and educational environment.
Oktio Frenki BiantoroM.
This study explores the educational thought of Hadrotus Syaikh KH. Hasyim Asy'ari, the founder of Nahdlatul Ulama, through the principle of al-muhafadzah ‘ala al-qadim al-shalih wa al-akhdzu bil jadid al-ashlah—preserving noble traditions while embracing beneficial innovations. The research aims to examine how this principle informs Islamic educational practices and its relevance in modern contexts. Employing a qualitative method through library research, the study analyzes KH. Hasyim Asy’ari’s primary works, especially Adab al-‘Alim wa al-Muta‘allim, and secondary sources discussing Islamic education. The findings reveal that KH. Hasyim Asy'ari emphasized education not merely as knowledge transfer, but as a process of moral, spiritual, and character formation grounded in Islamic values such as justice, humility, sincerity, and honesty. He advocated balancing religious and general sciences and urged educators to serve as moral exemplars. This research contributes to the discourse on Islamic education by offering a classical yet adaptive framework rooted in tradition but open to innovation—providing a model for addressing current educational challenges with strong spiritual foundations and cultural relevance.
Intan Nur AiniImam SopingiAthi’ Hidayati
